Period Federal Giltwood Convex Mirror with Hippocampus
Rare American Federal period giltwood convex mirror, the circular plate and reeded slip set within a boldly molded frame carved to appear like snake skin, surmounted by a carved laurel wreath and ribboned bow flanked by stylized leaves. The undermount, a fabulous fantasy of a carved hippocampus or sea horse.
