Antique 18th Century Tilt-Top Pie Crust Pedestal Table
Fine 18th Century George III Chippendale mahogany pie crust and tilt-top side, center or tea table on a tapered fluted pedestal on a suppressed carved ring, on unusual carved acanthus leaf cabriole legs ending in ball and claw feet.
The original idea of a tilt-top table, whether used for tea or another occasion, was the convenience of placing it against the wall when not in use.
