Antique 19th Century Chinese Export Black Lacquer Tea Caddy

Chinoiserie Chinese Export black lacquer octagonally shaped wooden tea caddy features gilded and silver gilt designs and opens to reveal two pewter interior canisters to keep the loose tea leaves fresh. The exterior of the box is decorated with hand-painted courtyard scenes of figures, pagodas and floral designs. It retains the original key. The silver gilt has tarnished but can be polished carefully.
