Antique Bokhara Small Wool Rug
A small Bokhara hand-knotted wool rug or mat decorated with four central octagonal medallions or “guls” on an ivory background with deep red and black multiple geometric borders. This red ground is one of the defining hallmarks of Bokhara rugs. The design is precise, geometric and very symmetrical. Bokhara rugs were generally woven by Turkmen tribes in Turkmenistan and Afghanistan and across Central Asia.
