Antique Italian Sorrento Ware Puzzle Book Box

Italian Grand Tour olivewood Sorrento ware book form puzzle box. Opening it requires a sequence of sliding actions to retrieve the key to open the box. Shift the bottom spine trim backward which makes the book number VI to drop down and reveal the hidden keyhole. Shift the horrizontal spine marked “Ricordo” to the left to reveal the side panel which will slide forward to open the compartment which holds the key. The top of the box features a detailed marquetry scene of two folk figures.
