Art Deco Boulle Work Style Paperweight
Art Deco Boulle work style paperweight inlayed with pewter and brass, decorated with continuous arabesque designs of scrolling and interlacing foliage, brass rectangular handle mounted on a stepped base. It’s leaded, so it’s quite heavy.
André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732) was furniture-maker, gilder and sculptor to Louis XIV of France (1638–1715). His outstanding ability to inlay furniture and objects with tortoiseshell and brass or pewter inlays, gave the technique its name: Boulle work.
