Campaign Portable Folding and Adjustable Caned Daybed
Mahogany campaign folding and adjustable daybed with three caned sections that will adjust their angle on a rachet letting you have a flat bed or raise the back and leg sections to a variety of comfortable positions, supported on turned legs ending with porcelain casters that are stamped Moore Brothers, Birmingham & London Patent. There is a bar at the foot to stop the upholstered cushion from sliding off. It is a very versatile piece of furniture that can be used as a relaxing couch in your den, at camp, at the seaside or on your porch or patio. There is also a very faded label that is illegible, but most likely was made by Robinsons of Ilkley. Under what was the label is the name W. Fawcett.
The custom made three-part cushion is upholstered in a heavy wool Mackenzie Modern Scottish Tartan plaid. The Mackenzie tartan is the regimental tartan of the Seaforth Highlanders, which were raised by Mackenzie, Earl of Seaforth in 1778. Most clan tartans today were developed since the military Highland Independent Companies introduced the idea of using the pattern for identity between 1725 and 1739.
