English "Wild Rose" Staffordshire Compote & Stand
Wild Rose Nuneham Courtenay blue and white footed compote and stand in an oval shape depicting a pastoral scene of a thatched house, a bridge, church, manor house and fisherman on boats, a wide border of Wild Roses, protruding from the oval are handles. Nuneham Park was designed by Capability Brown and is on the Thames. This pattern was extremely popular in the 19th Century between 1820 – 1860 and was made by over fifty potteries. On the bottom of the compote there is an under glaze blue “4”. On the bottom of the underplate there is a “0”.
