French Samson Cobalt Blue Vases
French pair of Samson porcelain pitted cobalt blue covered vases with ormolu pineapple finials, raised on bronze mounts.
Samson started out in 1845 in Paris making reproductions of Meissen, Sevres, Chelsea, Derby and all the major factories of England, France and Germany. He also copied Chinese porcelains of the 18th century. The firm did attempt to distinguish their reproductions from the originals by using different types of porcelains, glazes, colors, designs and markings. His ceramic reproductions have become so popular that some people just collect Samson.
