George I Walnut Chest of Drawers on Stand, Circa 1720
An impressive fine quality George I inlaid walnut chest on stand, the whole with canted corners that are inlaid with Ionic columns, the molded cavetto cornice pulls out to become a secret drawer above three short and three long graduated cock-beaded drawers which are inlaid with rectangles of tiny square boxes, the stand with one deep cock-beaded drawer over a beautifully shaped apron that is also inlaid, raised on cabriole legs, front and back, with acanthus leaf carving on the knees terminating in a stylized hoof foot. The brass hardware is old but not original. The chest has beautiful color and patina.
