George II Blue Lacquered Tall Case Clock

George II blue lacquered tall case clock inscribed Wm. Stapleton, London.  It has an eight-day movement with twin train and anchor escapement, striking on a bell, brass dial with silvered chapter ring and Roman chapters, seconds dial and date aperture. The arched dial with cast brass spandrels of dolphins.  The hood with pagoda top surmounted by three brass ball finials.  The arched door decorated with chinoiserie scene of palace life with a sailboat in the foreground. Base and sides also decorated with gilded decoration.  Sides of hood have unusual glazed panels revealing the works inside.
