Georgian Longcase Clock by J W Clarke, Circa 1770
Georgian mahogany tall case or longcase clock by James Worrell Clarke, London. Satinwood inlaid arched hood with three gilded finials, detached fluted columns to hood with gilded Corinthian capitals, recessed quarter fluted columns to trunk with gilt inlay, arched waist door with cross banding, shell paterae in corners, base with satinwood inlay, raised on shaped bracket feet. Twin train eight-day movement with anchor escapement, arched silvered dial, striking on the hour, seconds hand, calendar and strike/silent dial.
