Ilkley Folding & Adjustable Day Bed
Mahogany caned, folding and fully adjustable day bed with removable legs and porcelain casters. Folds up for travel and goes completely flat for a day bed or couch. It has three sections each with a ratchet support for different back and knee positions. The footrest also holds the cushions in place. Thomas Robinson made the Ilkley couch and advertised it as a bed for invalids in 1862. It was so popular that four years later he advertised it as a comfortable Lounge. A very worn label on the back reads Ilkley. The three-part cushion is upholstered in a striking black and beige cotton fabric.
