Georgian Irish Wall Clock, Circa 1820
Irish wall clock signed on painted iron dial by Crosthwaite and Hodges. The case has a carved gilded and ebonized rope-shaped surround. The convex glass cover has a polychromed reeded rim which lifts up to open. Fusee 8-day movement strikes once on every hour. John Crosthwaite was a renowned Dublin clock maker, making clocks for observatories of which many still exist. Hodges became a partner later in his career.
