Italian Grand Tour Souvenir Temple of Castor and Pollux
Italian Grand Tour bronze souvenir of the ruin of the Temple of Castor and Pollux in the Forum in Rome. It is mounted on a stepped base of Sienna marble and black slate. Built for the victory at the Battle of Lake Regillus (495 BC), it was dedicated to the Dioscuri (twins) to thank them for their help in the battle. Castor and Pollux were the twin sons of Zeus and Leda.
