Antique Mason's Ironstone China Water Lily Pattern Part Dinner Service
Part of a early 19th Century Mason’s Ironstone China dinner service in the Water Lily or Lotus pattern, decorated with the central theme of a large water lily surrounded by various flowers and foliage with a diaper border of red stylized flowers, in a lushly polychrome Imari palette of orange-reds, pinks, cobalt blue, aqua and greens with rich gilding. The early impressed mark “Mason’s Patent Ironstone China” in a straight line appears on the underside of every piece. The set comprises a large tureen and cover with rabbit-head handles, two square covered vegetables, two square open vegetables, two sauce tureens with covers with rabbit handles and stands, twenty-four 9.50″ dinner plates.
Included are two rare three-piece hot water food warmer covered vegetables with rabbit handles. Click full size image to view animation of the three pieces.
The general condition is excellent. There is some wear to the gilding on some plates. The inside of one of the hot water dishes has a two-inch crack. The pattern on one of the hot water dishes is faded.
