Regency Chinoiserie Ladies Sewing or Work Box, Circa 1810

Regency chinoiserie ladies work or sewing box with a shaped swing handle, the lid decorated with two figures wearing oriental clothing in a fenced garden with gilded palm trees, rockery and foliage on a brown background, the side panels are decorated with gilded floral and leaf designs, the inside  is decorated with the original blue paper lining with a black and white paper decoupage cut-out of three young ladies.

In this period, the blue paper is what sugar came wrapped in and saved for this purpose.
