Regency Penwork Games Box

A rare and unusual Regency lacquered penwork games box of sarcophagus shape with pressed brass paw feet and handles. The hinged lid is decorated with a Roman or Grecian muse, a winged angel and a lamb within a shield shape. The whole box is ornately decorated with penwork designs of  a bull’s head, a basket of flowers and more stylized flowers and foliage. The lid opens to reveal 7 compartments covered in pink sugar paper that house unusual games pieces and counters.
