Superb George III Inlaid Satinwood Demi-lune Console Table
Superb Georgian, possibly period Adam, satinwood and painted demi-lune or D-shaped console table, inlaid with rosewood, decorated around the top edge with painted peacock feathers, centered by a half-round floral pattern, the frieze centered by a quiver and arrows, painted swags of floral and foliate designs, above straight tapering legs decorated with the same designs.
In the second half of the 1700’s, in his grand room schemes, Adam introduced semicircular pier tables between large architectural windows. When these tables were placed between the windows they were meant to form a full oval when reflected in a pier mirror above it.
