Very Rare George III Mahogany Retractable Writing & Architectural Table

George III mahogany writing/architectural table, the rectangular top with mechanical pulley and weight mechanism that controls the height of the adjustable bookrest.  When the top is raised, the reading stand is flanked by two opposing drawers with felt pulls which when pulled out not only give extra space but also have two more drawers within, one of which has two silver-plated lidded inkwells. The drop-leaf in the back which is supported by two gilded brass butterflies when extended, provides a larger writing surface for the writing table.  The table is raised on square legs with retractable shelf and H-shaped stretcher, ending in brass casters.  This piece is truly ingenious.
