William IV Mahogany and Leather Desk Armchair
William IV mahogany and buttoned black leather desk armchair. The bow-shaped backrest sweeps around and terminates with carved scrolled ends. It is raised on a carved and pierced fleur de lis support flanked by “C” scrolls. The deep buttoned leather serpentine shaped seat is upholstered over a sprung seat with thumb molded edge which is raised on turned legs on brass casters.
The shape of this chair is also known as a cockfighting chair because the lack of arm supports allows one to sit backwards with the chest and arms resting against the bow-shaped back rest in order to watch a cockfight in comfort.
